This assessment is based on Jotform’s published documentation, pricing, and policies. We did not test the product hands-on.

Jotform is a broad form builder that suits a business whose forms do real work: taking orders, collecting payments, getting signatures, or routing requests for approval. It’s a weaker fit for teams that need several logins on a small budget, and for anyone who only needs a simple survey.

Its pricing follows an unusual rule. Nearly every feature is on every plan, including the free one, and what you pay for is volume.

How this assessment was done. We read Jotform’s published documentation, pricing, and policies as of October 13, 2026. We didn’t create an account, build forms, or contact support. So you won’t find opinions here on how the builder feels to use, how fast it is, or how good the support is, and there are no screenshots or test results. Where a judgment would need testing, we say so. If you want a hands-on review, treat this as background reading for one.

Who Jotform suits

A good fit:

  • Service businesses that take bookings, deposits, or intake forms
  • Solo operators and small offices where one person manages the forms
  • Organizations that need forms, e-signatures, and approvals from one vendor
  • Healthcare practices that need HIPAA features without an enterprise contract
  • Nonprofits and schools, which get a 50% discount on paid plans

A weaker fit:

  • Teams where several people need their own login, unless Enterprise is in budget
  • High-volume forms on a free plan
  • Simple surveys that a free tool already handles

What Jotform includes

Jotform has grown well past a form builder. These are the parts a small business is most likely to use, as Jotform describes them.

Forms. The builder offers standard forms and a one-question-per-page format called Jotform Cards. Jotform’s features page lists more than 20,000 templates and lets you add custom CSS. Conditional logic can show or hide fields, change who gets an email, and change the thank-you message.

Payments. Jotform connects to payment processors including Stripe, PayPal, Square, and Authorize.Net. It says it charges no transaction fee of its own. Payments are available on every plan, with a monthly cap that depends on the plan.

E-signatures. Jotform handles signatures in two ways. A Signature field can be added to any form, so the person filling it out signs as part of the submission. Jotform Sign is a separate tool for sending documents out to be signed, with signer roles, reminder emails, and templates. Each plan includes a monthly number of signed documents in Jotform Sign. We compare it with a dedicated e-signature product in Jotform vs Docusign.

Approvals and workflows. Jotform Workflows routes a submission to one or more approvers, with conditional steps. Jotform says the free plan allows up to three approvers in a flow and paid plans allow up to 10.

Reports and data. Submissions can be turned into charts with Report Builder and exported, and PDFs can be generated from them.

Mobile. Jotform’s mobile app can collect responses offline and sync them later.

Integrations. Jotform’s site cites 150+ integrations in one place and 200+ in another.

AI Agents. Jotform now includes AI agents with their own usage limits on each plan. We didn’t evaluate them.

Strengths

Features aren’t held back for higher tiers. Jotform’s help center says the free plan has “the same features, flexibility, and capabilities as paid plans.” The main exceptions are HIPAA features, branding removal, and multiuser access. That means you can build your real form on the free plan and find out whether it works before paying.

Payments work on the free plan. Up to 10 a month, with no Jotform fee.

More responses at the entry price than Typeform. The $39 Bronze plan includes 1,000 submissions a month. Typeform’s $39 Basic plan includes 100.

HIPAA features on a self-serve plan. They’re included in Gold at no extra charge, where some competitors list them only on Enterprise tiers. They have to be enabled on the account, and Jotform has covered entities sign a Business Associate Agreement. Using them doesn’t make a practice compliant by itself. See Is Jotform HIPAA Compliant? for the plans, setup steps, and limits Jotform describes.

Clear refund and discount terms. Jotform offers a full refund within 30 days of payment and a 50% discount for nonprofits and educational institutions.

Limitations

Standard plans are single-user. Jotform’s help center says free and non-Enterprise paid plans can’t invite team members. For a small office where three people handle forms, that’s the biggest gap, and it pushes you toward a custom-priced Enterprise plan.

The free plan is tight on volume. It allows 100 submissions a month across all forms, and 5 forms. When you go over, Jotform warns you and then disables your forms until the count resets or you upgrade.

The free plan stores only 500 submissions. Past that, Jotform deletes the oldest response to make room for each new one. If you stay on the free plan, export regularly.

The first paid step is a jump. There’s nothing between free and $39 a month. If all you need is 300 responses on a simple form, tools with looser free tiers cost less.

No paid-plan trial. Jotform points you to the free plan, which works because the features match. You can’t try higher limits without paying, though the refund window covers some of that risk.

Branding on free forms. Jotform’s branding stays on forms and signed documents until you’re on a paid plan.

Ease of use: what we can and can’t say

We didn’t build forms in Jotform for this assessment, so we won’t rate how easy it is.

What the documentation shows is a large product. There are many field types, widgets, settings, and separate tools for tables, signatures, approvals, and reports. For a business that needs those, it means fewer vendors. For someone who wants a five-question form, it can mean more options than the job requires.

The free plan is the practical way to find out. Build one real form and judge for yourself.

Pricing in brief

PlanMonthlyYearly (per month)Submissions per month
Starter$0$0100
Bronze$39$341,000
Silver$49$392,500
Gold$129$9910,000

Enterprise is custom-priced. Storage, payment, and signature limits by plan, along with billing rules and discounts, are in our Jotform Pricing guide.

Security and compliance

Jotform’s security page states that it is PCI DSS Service Provider Level 1 compliant and complies with GDPR and CCPA. It hosts data on Google Cloud, with AWS as a backup, and says EU data stays in the EU. A SOC 2 certified environment is offered to Enterprise customers.

These are Jotform’s statements, and we haven’t audited them. If your business has specific security requirements, ask Jotform for its current documentation.

How it compares

Each of these has its own article:

  • Google Forms is simpler, doesn’t limit responses by the month, and has no payment question type. See Jotform vs Google Forms.
  • Typeform is built around conversational forms and includes team seats on its mid-tier plans. Below 10,000 responses a month, it costs more than Jotform for the same volume. See Jotform vs Typeform.
  • For a wider list by use case, see Jotform Alternatives.

Verdict

Based on its documentation, Jotform looks like a strong choice for a one-person or one-admin business that needs forms to take payments, signatures, or approvals. We can’t confirm from testing that it works as described. The free plan lets you prove the form works before you spend anything.

Look elsewhere if your team needs shared access on a small budget, or if your forms are simple enough that a free tool covers them.
